Navy League Spring Brunch

The Sun Coast Council of the Navy League is holding its Spring Brunch at the Isles Yacht Club on 16th of April . The guest speaker is Vice Admiral Charles Martoglio USN (Ret). He will be speaking on "China in the Context of US and Global Security". The Admiral's presentation will include the current security challenges posed by China, China's strengths and weaknesses, the development of US-Chinese relations, China's relationship with Russia, and the world's security environment in the coming decade.
The son of the late Charles V. Martoglio, Jr., a long-time Punta Gorda resident and Sun Coast Navy League Member, Vice Admiral Martoglio's 40-year Navy career included multiple, senior US Government positions afloat and ashore. Afloat he commanded the RONALD REAGAN Aircraft Carrier Strike Group, a destroyer squadron, and an Aegis destroyer. Ashore he served as the deputy commander of all US military forces in Europe, as the Director for Operations of all US military forces in Asia as well as the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and as the Director of Strategy and Policy for the US Navy. He continues to be recognized as one of our nation's leading strategists focusing on both Europe and Asia. Admiral Martoglio is a 1978 graduate of the US Naval Academy, and he holds a master's degree, with highest distinction, in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College.
The Brunch is on the 16th of April from 1130 to 1 PM. The price of $25.00 includes Sunday Brunch and the Admiral's presentation. Please RSVP by April 9th since seating will be limited.
The Sun Coast Council of the Navy League of the U.S. (NLUS) is a 501(C)3 organization. We foster the dissemination of information related to our Sea Services - the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, U.S. Flag Merchant Marine, marine patrol and Oceanographic operations and personnel. The Navy League is a Civilian Organization. All U.S. citizens are eligible for membership. All one needs is an interest in the education of fellow citizens including our elected officials and in supporting our men and women in the Sea Services. Come join us. We all need our Sea Services; the Sea Services need us, and the Navy League needs you to help us spread the word. Our focus is still strictly in the military-active, reserve components, retired, veterans, etc. What does our Council do?
· We provide information to educate our Sea Services - Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and U.S. Flag Merchant Marine.
· We adopt and provide financial and morale support to the US Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach and it's assigned cutter.
· We provide financial and administrative support to the Gulf Eagle Division of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC).
· We support Sea Services spouses and children in various ways.
· We sponsor Navy and Coast Guard ship visits, commissioning and Changes of Command.
· We provide leadership and financial support to three NJROTC Units in Charlotte, Port Charlotte and Lemon Bay High Schools.
· We provide financial support and encouragement for the Naval, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Academies.
