NOMINATIONS NOW BEING TAKEN FOR STATEWIDE COLORADO WOMEN'S DAY AWARDS

Do you know a woman who has worked hard and deserves recognition? Nominate her for one of the awards to be presented at the 7th Annual Colorado Women's Day conference sponsored by SCL Health Lutheran Medical Center and IX Power Clean Water to be held on March 10 and 11, 2022. The deadline for nomination pdf or WORD documents to be emailed to the Colorado Women's Day office in Golden is Friday, January 14, 2022. Nominations should be emailed to: Awards@ColoradoWomensDay.org.

The two-day Colorado Women's Day conference, with the theme "Women Take the Reins," is part of the global celebration of International Women's Day held every year on March 8. This year's event will benefit Rotary International's WASH District 5450 which makes significant investments in water infrastructure for in-need communities around the world. For the eight awards, all nomination forms, along with other information about the event, can be found at ColoradoWomensDay.org. Women are also encouraged to nominate themselves. While women who have been previously recognized with other awards are encouraged to apply, Colorado Women's Day is particularly seeking out those women who have made impactful contributions in their field or to the community and have gone unrecognized for their work in the past.

There are several new categories of recognition this year including a new National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Foundation "Outstanding Woman in STEM" award, the Women's Caucus for Art "Wonderful Woman in the Arts" award, the Good Business Colorado "Outstanding Woman in Business" award and the women in Sustainability's "Woman Who C.A.R.E.s" award. Nominations for all the awards can come from any member of the public. Any woman residing anywhere within the state of Colorado for at least the last six months can be nominated, and no membership in any club or organization is required. All finalists, along with their organization or business, will be announced a month in advance of the Colorado Women's Day conference Thursday and Friday, March 10 and 11, 2022 at the Marriott Hotel Denver West.

The categories in which a woman can be nominated include the:

• NREL Foundation Outstanding Woman in STEM Award
• Outstanding Young Woman in STEM Award (Ages 18 and under)
• Outstanding Young Woman in STEM Award (Ages 19 – 25)
• Women's Caucus for Art Wonderful Woman in the Arts Award
• Shattered Glass Award
• Unsung Heroine Award
• Women in Sustainability's Woman Who C.A.R.E.s Award
• Good Business Colorado's Outstanding Woman in Business Award

The two-day conference, March 10 and 11, 2022, celebrating Colorado Women's Day for International Women's Day, will offer a variety of workshops and speakers of interest to women in the state. Three panel discussions will be held on Friday, March 11. These willl be followed by a reception providing an opportunity for attendees to meet candidates running for public office. It will be followed by the awards lunch and keynote speaker. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has been invited to give the keynote talk. There will also be a "Marketplace" with unique vendors of interest to women, a silent auction, door prizes, and gift "swag" bags for all who attend.
.
The first workshop, scheduled on Thursday, March 10 from 9 am to noon, will be presented by Joni Inman, president of the Colorado Women's Alliance Foundation and Sheryl Fernandez, one of the state's most talented political consultants. "Colorado Women: Does the Community Know Your Name" will engage women in reviewing their place in the community, how to get involved in public policy, how to decide if you want to run for office, and if so, how to execute your goals and objectives.

The afternoon workshop will feature a fun exercise into planning your future. "Dream Big, Live Big: Tips to Design Your Bright Future" will be presented by Betsy Wiersma, and Christy Belz, two internationally known authors, consultants and coaches. If you are ready to get moving into your biggest dreams and are tired of feeling overwhelmed and stuck, this is the invigorating workshop for you. Betsy and Christy will help attendees get going and activate their plans for the future at this afternoon of inspiration, instruction, and interactive fun.
