Reach for the Stars Gala
Saturday, October 22, 2022, 1800 - 2300
Exceptional Care for Children (ECC) began as a vision for an improved model of care for medically fragile and technology dependent children in 2006. From that initial vision, ECC has grown to become an innovative leader in pediatric healthcare. Currently home to up to forty-six children, ECC is a sought after leader in pediatrics and long term care. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services has given ECC a Five-Star rating certifying excellence in all categories of consideration, including deficiency free surveys in 2017 and 2019. In 2019, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce (DSCC)'s Small Business Alliance (SBA) awarded ECC with the Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Award.
The future of Exceptional Care for Children is bright and our dreams are bold. With your support, we can accomplish those dreams and continue to meet the unique needs of medically fragile children and young adults throughout the State of Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic region. Your generosity will help bring children home to Exceptional Care for Children and ensure that they have the opportunity to live out a childhood into their adult years, despite their medical obstacles. For more information on program, services, and projects at ECC, please visit exceptionalcare.org.
2022 BENEFICIARY
The proceeds from this year's gala will be used to expand ECC. ECC plans to construct a Bridge Unit to serve medically fragile teens and young adults. This will be a national model and the first of its kind in Delaware. The Bridge Unit will include life-sustaining technology, specialty clinics, interactive living rooms, art and music rooms, family time, and outdoor exploration - all designed to provide youth with the support they need not only to survive but to thrive in an environment designed for their age group.
The Bridge Unit will formalize a transitional care program for teens and young adults including the transfer of care over from a pediatric to adult medical physician team. This expansion will include construction of an additional 22 bed building on ECC's current campus.
