Elevate your museum game.
Learn the basic principles of how to approach, analyze, and appreciate great works of art the way an artist would. Included are discussions on viewing art as both a physical object and the expression of an idea, art in the context of its time, and the elements of composition.

The takeaway:
Free Fridays at the Whitney will never be the same. You’ll leave this lecture with the vocabulary, framework and tools to have better things to say when you look at art.

The instructor:
Gene Wisniewski received his art education at Rutgers University, the New York Academy of Art, The National Academy of Design, The New School, and L’Ecole Albert Defois in Vihiers, France. He has exhibited in galleries nationwide, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and has eighteen years’ experience teaching and lecturing on visual art. His short stories have appeared in Exquisite Corpse, the literary magazine of Louisiana State University, Satellite magazine, and other publications. His book The Art of Looking at Art is scheduled to be released in May of 2020. He is currently working on screenplay adaptions based on two of his published short stories.
