2025 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® presented by STAR

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is a powerful, community-driven event hosted by STAR (Standing Together Against Rape), designed to raise awareness about sexual violence and support survivors. The event invites participants of all genders to literally walk a mile in high heels as a symbolic gesture of empathy, solidarity, and advocacy.
The walk challenges participants to confront gender stereotypes and engage in open conversations about sexual violence.
Funds raised go directly to STAR's client services, including 24/7 crisis intervention, medical and court accompaniment, and long-term support.
Everyone is welcome-regardless of age, gender, or background. Participants include police officers, firefighters, construction workers, office professionals, and community leaders.
Why It Matters
Alaska has one of the highest rates of sexual violence in the U.S. STAR's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is not just a fundraiser-it's a movement. It brings visibility to survivors, educates the public, and fosters a culture of empathy and action.

Best Shoes: Creativity is key-feathers, glitter, lights, and themed outfits are encouraged.
Speed Diva: First Finisher
Top Fundraisers: Individuals and teams compete to raise the most for STAR.
Top Team: Spirit, coordination, and enthusiasm win the day.
Spectators cheer on walkers, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and celebrate the collective commitment to change.
