HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Lenny Peters Cup, already recognized for bringing elite international rowing to Oak Hollow Lake, will reach new heights this fall thanks to a $200,000 gift from the Lenny Peters Foundation to event host Triad United Rowing Association.
"We're thrilled to welcome the reigning World Champion USA Women's Four to High Point," he said. "Our defending world champions will headline the regatta against a top European crew that will be announced soon. It's an incredible opportunity for fans to see the very best athletes in the world compete right here in North Carolina."
The lineup for defending World Champion USA Women's Four in High Point will be Kate Knifton, Teal Cohen, Azja Czajkowski, and Molly Bruggeman.
The regatta will also feature marquee races between leading NCAA rowing programs such as High Point University and Duke and top European universities.
Admission to the Lenny Peters Cup is free, with activities designed for the entire family. In addition to international rowing competition, visitors can enjoy food trucks, beer garden, vendor exhibits, and a popular free Best in Show dog competition throughout the day. Bring your friendly dog on a leash.
Since its inception, the Lenny Peters Cup has grown into one of North Carolina's premier international sporting events, attracting thousands of spectators and generating an estimated more than $2 million in annual economic impact for the Piedmont Triad. The regatta is widely regarded as one of the Southeast's leading rowing events.
