5 DAY INTRODUCTION TO FILMMAKING

Our team are industry professionals who have extensive experience and lots of enthusiasm for working with students from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. Our team all have enhanced CRB clearance and have undergone safeguarding training.
Many of our students have been so inspired by their experience with us that they have gone on to a career in the industry and have returned to take part in an internship with us.

Work as a professional film crew in state of the art studios

Gain a realistic insight into the career opportunities in the film industry
Work in a small group with a high ratio of mentors to student (max. 12 students to 1 mentor)
5 DAY FILM INTRODUCTION TO FILMMAKING OUTLINE TIMETABLE
MONDAY TIMETABLE
10am – 12.30pm – Introduction to the camera equipment, Health and Safety Briefing, Scriptwriting; How to write a good script. How to Storyboard. How to develop a script.
12.30pm – Lunch
1.30pm – 5pm – Brainstorm and pitch ideas for the film. Develop and understand the fundamentals of a story.
TUESDAY TIMETABLE
10am – 12.30pm – Filmmaking; Cast roles. Organise costumes. Location scout.
12.30pm – Lunch
1.30pm – 5pm – Filmmaking; Read through script and rehearsals. How to block a script. How to direct and collaborate with actors.
WEDNESDAY TIMETABLE
10am – 12.30pm – Filmmaking; Filming Day 1 – Learn the key elements of cinematography, including lighting, framing a shot, shooting for the edit.
12.30pm – Lunch
1.30pm – 5pm – Filmmaking; Explore how to work effectively with actors and other key crewmembers.
THURSDAY TIMETABLE
10am – 12.30pm – Filmmaking; Filming Day 2 – Understand the roles of scriptwriter, continuity assistant, clapper loader, director, cinematographer and sound engineer by performing each of these roles.
12.30pm – Lunch
1.30pm – 5pm – Filmmaking; Explore the importance of each of the film crew’s roles on set and how they interact. How to shoot to the edit.
FRIDAY TIMETABLE
10am – 12.30pm – Filmmaking; Filming Day 3 – How to be decisive, stay flexible, solve problems and work to a deadline.
12.30pm – Lunch
1.30pm – 5pm – Filmmaking; Final Filming. How to work as a team and communicate effectively under pressure.Editing Workshop
