Afternoon Tea for a Cause: Support Purple Thursday
Sunday, October 19, 2025, 1100 - 1600
On Sunday, October 18, 2025, the Pendray Inn and Tea House will host its second annual Purple Thursday Afternoon Tea and Silent Auction, inviting the Greater Victoria community to gather in support of survivors of domestic violence living with brain injuries.
Purple Thursday is a national day of awareness led by Canadian Royal Purple, shining a light on the often-overlooked link between intimate partner violence (IPV) and brain injury. Research shows that 1 in 3 women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime, and up to 92% of these incidents involve blows to the head, face, or neck, often resulting in traumatic brain injuries that go undiagnosed and untreated. This event raises critical funds and awareness to help survivors heal and rebuild their lives.
Guests will enjoy the Pendray Tea House's celebrated Afternoon Tea service in one of Victoria's most beautiful historic settings, a lovingly restored 1896 Victorian mansion overlooking the Inner Harbour. Alongside a selection of fine teas, fresh-baked scones, delicate sandwiches, and handcrafted desserts, the day will feature a silent auction filled with generous donations from local businesses and community partners.
On this special day, 50% of all Afternoon Tea revenue will be donated to Canadian Royal Purple, and 100% of proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Victoria Brain Injury Society (VBIS), helping fund counselling, rehabilitation, and advocacy services for survivors in our community.
By attending this event, guests can indulge in an elegant culinary tradition while making a real impact on the lives of survivors. Every tea enjoyed and every auction item bid on helps fund vital services such as counselling, rehabilitation, and advocacy.
