Artist Talk: Binh Danh, Photographer
Thursday, March 26, 2026, 1730 - 1830
San Jose-based artist Binh Danh, whose photography is featured in the exhibition "Hyphen American: Intersections of Identity," returns to Sheldon Museum of Art to deliver a talk in the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture Series of the School of Art, Art History and Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Danh first came to Sheldon in 2011 as an artist-in-residence to create works for the solo exhibition "Viet Nam, Nebraska." In his talk, he will reflect on this transformational period in his career and the evolution of his artistic practice since then.
Danh's work is held in the collections of major institutions, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, J. Paul Getty Museum, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, National Gallery of Art, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He has been honored with numerous awards, including the William Collins Smith Auburn Award for Advancing American Art (2024) and the Eureka Fellowship from the Fleishhacker Foundation (2010). In 2023, his most recent book, "Binh Danh: The Enigma of Belonging," was the inaugural recipient of the Minami Book Grant for Asian American Visual Artists from Radius Books.
