Artist Talk: Norman Akers

Artist Norman Akers (Osage Nation) will speak at Sheldon Museum of Art as part of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture Series. Through images and symbols drawn from contemporary culture, his heritage, and life experiences, Akers explores issues of identity, Osage mythos, and the struggle to claim cultural context. Several works by Akers are featured in the exhibition "Exploding Native Inevitable" at Sheldon.
