Berkshires Crochet Coral Reef @ The '62 Center for Theatre And Dance: Open Daily Through May 12!

The Berkshires Satellite Crochet Coral Reef is a participatory artwork involving the collective creation of coral reefs made entirely out of crochet. Part of the worldwide phenomenon of the Crochet Coral Reef, founded in 2005 by the artists Margaret and Christine Wertheim, our reef is an immersive installation using sound and lighting design to simulate the experience of encountering coral reefs underwater. Hundreds of participants from the Berkshires and places as far off as Canada and Oregon, have been working since last June to crochet corals for the exhibition, which aims to raise awareness to the beauty and plight of the world's oceanic reefs. All of the yarn used for the project was donated by the community. Prompting synergies and connections across the arts and sciences, the reef is open to interpretation and engagement by all!
