Clements Stampede Rodeo

The adrenaline packed action of the sport of rodeo returns to San Joaquin County this October 18-19th with the relaunch of the Clements Stampede at the historic Clements Buckaroo Grounds - 19813 E. Highway 88, Clements, CA. 95227. The return of the Stampede continues a tradition started in 1940 with the founding of the Clements Buckaroos, a pleasure riding club established by local ranchers Lee Bluck and Jack Granlees and local businessman Art Burger. The Buckaroos, under Phil Thorns, organized their first rodeo and horseshow in 1942 and the event drew an astounding 1,500 people (and has grown since then to an average 6,000 attendance per day). This amazing success launched the yearly tradition and in subsequent years the rodeo became a war bond fundraiser to benefit the Stockton Marine Corp. during World War II drawing eager crowds from all over the county and surrounding area.

Now 83 years later, after a short absence, the Clements Stampede returns under a reinvigorated group of Buckaroos, a registered non-profit organization, dedicated to celebrating and preserving the western traditions of San Joaquin County. The Clements Stampede will be sanctioned by the California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association (CCPRA) California's largest association of professional rodeo athletes. In addition to the professional rodeo, local children will compete in Mutton Busting (sheep riding) both days. A community dance follows the rodeo on Saturday (6:00 PM) featuring the music of popular local band "The Poison Oakies" and Sunday morning features Cowboy Church (9:00 AM) and the First Annual Lil' Buckaroos Rodeo for special needs children to participate in mock rodeo events geared to their abilities and needs (10:00 AM). Each day will offer a unique shopping experience with up to 30 local vendors of craftsmen, boutiques and eateries.

Tickets are NOW available for purchase at our new website: www.clementsstampede.com. First performance is Saturday the 18th @ 3:00 PM, gates opening at 1:00 PM, and Sunday the 19th @ 1:00 PM with gates opening at 8:00 AM for morning events.

The Clements Buckaroos Organization hopes, with the support of the local community, to continue the traditions and history of the Clements Stampede in perpetuity and to raise awareness and respect for the local western and cowboy lifestyle.
