Close Encounters With Music Presents: Vivace Chamber Orchestra - Mozart, Mendelssohn, Britten, Bruch
Sunday, December 7, 2025, 1600 - 1800
The Vivace Players return to the Berkshires for a stunning evening of chamber music that celebrates brilliance, emotion, and youthful joy. This dynamic ensemble of New York–based performers is known for electrifying performances and a warm connection with audiences. Their mission: to bring great music to life with passion, depth, and immediacy.
The program opens with Mozart’s dramatic Adagio and Fugue in C minor, a daring work that blends the formal elegance of Bach’s style with unexpected harmonies far ahead of its time. Next, we feature Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony, a spirited and playful piece full of imagination and charm, written when the composer was only 20.
World-renowned cellist Yehuda Hanani takes the stage for Max Bruch’s Kol Nidrei, a profoundly expressive and universally resonant piece that moves from introspection and longing to a luminous sense of hope and renewal.
The evening culminates in Mendelssohn’s legendary String Octet, one of the most exhilarating works in classical music-overflowing with youthful energy, virtuosity, and breathtaking musical teamwork. Mendelssohn composed this masterpiece at only 16 and instructed that it be played with the full power and excitement of an orchestra.
Whether this is your first chamber music concert or your hundredth, this program promises a deeply moving and joyful experience.
