David J + Comrades and special guest Schlee in Santa Rosa on 02 May 2025
Friday, May 2, 2025, 1945 - 2230
We are happy to welcome David J, comrades Darwin Meiners and Jon Bernstein, plus Schlee!

Musician, writer, playwright, poet, visual artist, David J is a founder member of the highly influential and revered BAUHAUS. Bauhaus
spearheaded the post-punk Alternative music scene of the early '80's with a string of innovative albums and singles, including, for many, perhaps their defining moment, a song that is ranked as a classic and feasibly the pinnacle of the entire Gothic scene and beyond, the nine minute plus epic slab of industrial dub that is 'Bela Lugosi's Dead', featuring the lyrics of David J.
Two years after the demise of Bauhaus in 1983, David regrouped with two of his former Bauhaus band mates, guitarist, Daniel Ash and drummer, Kevin Haskins to form the hugely successful Love And Rockets, whose debut single hit gold status in Canada, followed by a top three US single with 'So Alive' which the band capped with a million selling album and sold out stadium tours.
A highly acclaimed songwriter, often poetic, personal and insightful, all of these qualities being evident on his eleven solo albums. David has also written and directed various stage productions. His memoir, 'Who Killed Mister Moonlight?' (Bauhaus, Black Magick and Benediction) was published by Jawbone Press in 2014 to critical acclaim.
David has also collaborated with many other artists of note including painter, poet, Rene Halkett, novelists, Alan Moore, Jeremy Reed and Hubert Selby Jr and a vast array of musicians such as T Bone Burnett, Frank Black (Pixies), Robyn Hitchcock, Amanda Palmer, Johnny Dowd, Jane's Addiction, The Dandy Warhols, U Roy, Amaury Cambuzat (Faust), Ego Plum, George Sarah, Jill Tracy and Bashir Attar, leader of The Master Musicians of Jajouka. His latest collaborative project is Night Crickets with Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes) and Darwin.
2025 sees the release of a new spoken word with music album, 'The Mother Tree' which is accompanied by a book of poetry, 'Rhapsody, Threnody and Prayer'. https://davidjhaskins.com/

Schlee (short for Ashley) is a genre-bending songstress and visual artist currently residing in Northern California who is inspired by vulnerability, time travel and the things that make us grow.
As a chameleon, Schlee is constantly sharing new creativity with the world. Her sound is a mixed bag of nuts because "nobody puts baby in a corner" - but if you had to describe it, she sounds like soft pillow to lay your head. She's committed to her craft and the healing magic it summons. It is her fondest wish that one day she will write a song you always grab for your mixed tape.
