The La Conner Thrives Association, in partnership with The Washington Shakespearean Festival, is thrilled to announce the first-ever La Conner Fables Faire, a Festival of Myth and Legend.
A vibrant celebration of myths, legends, and heroic tales from across cultures and history. This free, family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Downtown La Conner (on Morris Street and 1st Street).
The Fables Faire invites Attendees to step into a world of imagination, where everyone can embody their favorite hero! Whether Norse, Native, Comic, Cinematic, Historical, or Fantastical. The event promises a day of interactive demonstrations, live entertainment, artisan vendors, and merriment for all ages.
Highlights Include:
- Hands-On Activities: Try on re-created armor, join a shield wall, or practice historical military maneuvers.
- Artisan Demonstrations: Watch pottery, woodworking, and ironworking in action, or learn traditional cloth-spinning and weaving.
- Cultural and Historical Talks: Discover the history of knives, Shakespeare's creative process, and the power of period poetry.
- Creative Workshops: Try calligraphy, illumination, dancing, singing, or cooking techniques from ages past.
- Food and Merchants: Enjoy local fare and browse unique goods from vendors.
"Interaction is the byword," say the organizers. "Guests won't just watch - they'll learn by doing, trying things on, and joining in the fun!"
Call for Volunteers:
The Fables Faire seeks enthusiastic volunteers to help with promotion, setup, guest direction, and more. To get involved, call (253) 678-1965 or email laconnerthrives@gmail.com.
