Family Day
Sunday, February 15, 2026, 1400 - 1600
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of "Torn Notebook," the iconic sculpture at 12th and Q streets, this Family Day celebrates the power of creative transformation. Sheldon Museum of Art and Stuff Creative Reuse invite families to the museum to create works of art using upcycled materials. There will also be gallery-based activities and snacks.
Family Day is free and open to everyone.

About Torn Notebook
In 1992, artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen were commissioned by Sheldon Museum of Art to create a sculpture for both the city and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln communities to enjoy. During the artists' visit to Nebraska to plan their work, they sketched potential designs in notebooks, tearing out pages with various ideas and ripping discarded notebooks in half. Their working method ultimately inspired the form of the sculpture they produced: a torn spiral-bound notebook with giant fluttering pages.
