Film Screening and Discussion - "My Omaha" in Oak Park on 16 September 2026
Wednesday, September 16, 2026, 1815 - 2045
"My Omaha" is an 85-minute film released in February 2025, directed, written and produced by 32 year old Nick Beaulieu. It is a personal documentary of the movement for racial justice in Omaha, Nebraska, alongside the filmmaker's search for common ground with his terminally ill father. It is timely, thought-provoking, and a springboard for crucial conversations across all communities working for racial justice.

A second documentary film, "A Time for Burning", is highly recommended for viewing before "My Omaha" because it is the backstory of the struggle for racial reconciliation in Omaha in the 1960's. Together these two films invite us to examine the ongoing search for truth and common ground between the Black community and the larger, dominant white community, not just in Omaha churches, but across our nation. There will be a film screening and discussion of "A Time for Burning" at the Oak Park Main Library on Thursday, September 3rd (6:45 pm - 8:30 pm ). "A Time for Burning" can also be viewed on YouTube.

The General sponsor for screenings of "My Omaha" is Collective Action to Build Community (CA2BC). The Oak Park sponsors are Congregations Networking for Social Justice (CNSJ), Together is Better Alliance (TiBA), Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation and Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church.
