Vladimir Kara-Murza is a Russian politician, author, historian, and former political prisoner. A leader in the Russian opposition People's Freedom Party, Kara-Murza has survived poisonings and imprisonment that sought to punish him for his advocacy of sanctions against top Russian officials and his public opposition to the invasion of Ukraine.

His August 2024 release from solitary confinement in Siberia was part of the largest East-West prisoner exchange since the Cold War, negotiated by the U.S. and German governments. Today, Kara-Murza is a contributing writer at the Washington Post, winning the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for his columns written from prison.

Vladimir Kara-Murza will present "Gone Today, Here Tomorrow: The Fight for Democracy."
