12th Annual Gallantly Forward Gala Honors Veterans and Raises Awareness for PTSD and Suicide Prevention
RAPID CITY, S.D. - October 18, 2025 - The Sergeant Colton Levi Derr Foundation will host its 12th Annual Gallantly Forward Gala on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at The Monument in Rapid City. This special evening brings together community members in support of veterans battling Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
The evening will begin with patriotic music performed by Orion Potter and a Presentation of Flags by the Rapid City Police Department Color Guard. Guests will enjoy a social hour, dinner, an inspiring program, exciting silent and live auctions, and a featured performance by The Starfellows - 2 Brothers, 1 Piano, whose high-energy harmonies are sure to light up the night.
Doors open at 5:00 p.m., with the program beginning promptly at 5:45 p.m. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased in advance - the same ticket price since 2014.
For those unable to attend, opportunities to sponsor a veteran’s ticket or donate auction items are available. Every contribution directly supports the Foundation’s mission.
A Cause Rooted in Service and Sacrifice
The Foundation was established in honor of Sergeant Colton Levi Derr, a courageous soldier who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. On April 28, 2012, after a battle with PTSD, Colton tragically took his own life. Known as “Delta Derr” to his brothers-in-arms, Colton was admired for his leadership, toughness, and loyalty.
“Colton gave everything he had for his country and his fellow soldiers,” said his father, Jerry W. Derr, founder of the Foundation. “But like so many, his toughest fight came after he came home. Every day, more than 20 veterans lose their lives to suicide. This Gala is not just about raising funds - it’s about raising awareness, standing together, and moving Gallantly Forward.”
Since its founding in 2012, the Sergeant Colton Levi Derr Foundation has been dedicated to Veteran Advocacy, Assistance, and Public Awareness. The organization works to ensure veterans and their families know they are not alone in their battles.
Join the Mission
Community members are invited to attend, sponsor, or donate to help bring hope and healing to veterans. Together, we can stand against veteran suicide and honor the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.
