Give a Breath 5K Run/Walk in Pacific Spirt Park, West 29th and Imperial Drive, Vancouver, BC 2026
Saturday, June 6, 2026, 1000 - 1400
We hope you will join this community-based, family-friendly 5K run / walk in beautiful Pacific Spirit Park. Since 2019, this event has expanded to 7 cities across Canada raising over $780,000 through sponsorship and fundraised dollars. All proceeds support two streams of funding: a newly established Give a Breath Research Award to address gaps in post first-line therapy for those with advanced cancer; and Lung Cancer Canada's Airways of Hope programs, providing therapeutic spaces to share and learning from other patients.
Lung Cancer is projected to be the most-diagnosed cancer (32,900) and the number one cause of cancer death (19,200) in both males (21%) and females (23%), causing 1 in 5 cancer deaths. More females than males are projected to be diagnosed with lung cancer in 2026.
"A higher proportion of lung cancers among females are not explained by tobacco consumption, suggesting that additional exposures - including lifestyle factors, radon, and air pollution - may need to be addressed to further reduce cancer incidence. Many provinces have now initiated screening programs for lung cancer, at various levels of implementation, that should enable earlier detection and, combined with advances in the clinical management of disease, should lead to reduced mortality."
