Holocaust Remembrance Event Featuring Survivor Irene Zisblatt
Thursday, February 15, 2024, 1030 - 1200
Irene Zisblatt, born in 1929 in Polyana, Ukraine, endured unimaginable horrors during the Holocaust. Sent to Auschwitz at just 14, she survived the camp's brutality and the inhumane experiments of Dr. Josef Mengele. She stands as the only survivor from her family of 40. Her story of unyielding courage was later featured in the Academy Award-winning documentary "The Last Days," produced by Steven Spielberg.
Complementing her powerful testimony, the event will feature the hauntingly beautiful music from Schindler's List, performed by the esteemed violinist Vladimir Tsypin on a rare 16th-century violin, offering a poignant musical remembrance that resonates with the gravity of the day.
This event offers a unique chance to hear from a survivor who witnessed history's darkest hour and understands the importance of vigilance in the face of ongoing global conflicts. It serves as a powerful reminder of our duty to remember and act against hatred and violence.
