Interactive workshop presentation: "What do communities in the Mid-Atlantic think of offshore wind?"
Thursday, May 7, 2026, 1730 - 1900
In this workshop, researchers at the University of Delaware will share the results of a study aimed at understanding community perceptions of offshore wind energy in coastal and near-coastal towns in Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey. We also will spend time in smaller groups to illuminate challenges for offshore wind power engagement. The research used both surveys and interviews to understand community views of local offshore wind development processes and outcomes, including a focus on commercial fishing and processing and communities transitioning from coal to renewable energy. The research was funded by the Delaware Sea Grant and conducted by professors and graduate students at the University of Delaware's School of Marine Science and Policy and the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration.
The workshop will take place on May 7, 2026 from 5:30 - 7:00pm at the Milford Public Library, 11 S E Front St, Milford, DE 19963, in the Lions club AB room upstairs. This workshop is open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
