Kern Oil Documentary
Saturday, April 25, 2026, 1800 - 2100
Experience the Taft premiere of the documentary Kern Oil, a powerful film exploring the history, people, and impact of the oil industry in Kern County.
After a successful premiere at the Fox Theater in Bakersfield, the film now comes to Taft - one of the most historic oil towns in California. Kern Oil highlights the hardworking men and women of the local oilfields and examines the role the industry continues to play in the region and the state.
The evening will include a red carpet welcome, a screening of the film, and a chance to meet the filmmakers behind the project.
Filmmaker Rickey Bird Jr., a third-generation oil worker and Kern County native, spent years capturing the stories, history, and challenges facing the local oil community. The documentary brings together interviews with industry leaders, workers, historians, and community voices.
Whether you work in the industry, live in the community, or are simply curious about the story behind one of California's most important industries, this event is a unique opportunity to see the film and celebrate Kern County's energy heritage.
Doors open: 6:00 PM
Film begins: 6:30 PM
Seating is limited, so be sure to reserve your tickets early.
