Learn Classical Oil Painting

Being a good painter is only partly about talent--the rest is training and experience. Learn how to paint anything using simple rendering techniques. Students will create a portrait in the classical indirect style, starting with a black and white value study, then building color glazes and learning about structure along the way. Class is ideal for self-taught artists seeking more concrete skills, or seasoned artists looking to level up. Class will be held at the Petaluma Arts Center on 5 Saturdays, Feb 24, March 2, 9, 23, and April 6 from 12-2 PM. Cost is $75 per class for a total of $375, and includes all materials, pre-registration required. All ages welcome.

Maggie Parr is an internationally renowned artist who specializes in classical drawing and painting. She has painted portraits and murals for clients such as Disney, Universal, and AirBnB. She distills all her skills and experiences into a friendly teaching approach that meets students where they are and helps them get to the next level in their work.
