Live Jazz concert featuring Legendary Jazz Drummer and Band Leader Nasar Abadey on Sunday, 17 August
Sunday, August 17, 2025, 1600 - 1800
Jazz at Meade and Yellow Door Concert Series are proud to welcome Jazz at Meade favorite, Legendary Jazz Drummer and Band Leader Nasar Abadey. This will be the fifth concert of the 2025 concert season. Nasar Abadey is not a background drummer. He is up front and expressive, aggressively pounding out a wide variety of propulsive rhythms according to Frank Rubio of Cadence Magazine. Nasar has recorded with many national artists throughout his career. His music has taken him to jazz festivals and concerts all over the world. Nasar has performed and/or toured with legends such as Sun Ra, Milt Hinton, Dizzy Gillespie, Pharoah Sanders, Cyrus Chestnut, Stanley Turrentine, and Ella Fitzgerald. He began playing drums at age 5, drawing influences from powerhouse drummers such as Tony Williams, Max Roach, Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, and his cousin Frankie Dunlop, to name a few. Nasar creates jazz music steeped in hard bop, modal, fusion, and avant-garde styles. You don’t want to miss this concert! "Beat the Heat" and come out on Sunday afternoon, 17 August, and enjoy the music of the Nasar Abadey Quartet as we strive to "Keep Jazz Alive!"
