Matter of Mind: My Alzheimer's
Saturday, April 19, 2025, 1400 - 1600
The Lena Public Library has been amazingly awarded an opportunity to work with PBS Independent Films to host documentary viewings for our communities. These Indie Lens Pop-Up Films are a neighborhood series that brings people together-virtually and in-person-for film screenings and community-driven conversations. Featuring documentaries seen on PBS's Independent Lens, Indie Lens Pop-Up draws local residents, leaders, and organizations to discuss what matters most, from newsworthy topics and social issues, to family and community relationships. Every season, there are hundreds of local events hosted by Indie Lens Pop-Up partners across the country. Since its inception in 2005, more than 6,700 Indie Lens Pop-Up events have brought an estimated 400,000 participants together to discuss issues that impact local communities.
Matter of Mind: My Alzheimer's is an intimate portrayal of three families confronting the unique challenges of Alzheimer's and how this progressive neurodegenerative disease transforms roles and relationships. Whether it's a partner becoming a caregiver or an adult child shifting into being their parent's caregiver, these stories show how families evolve when a loved one is diagnosed.
This viewing on Saturday April 19th at 2pm. This screening will be held at the Little Suamico Town Hall 5964 County Rd S, Sobieski, WI 54171.
We are reaching out to ask for speakers to share resources and stories in our community after the screening. Your insights and personal stories could provide hope, guidance, and a sense of solidarity to others in our community who are on similar journeys. By volunteering your time, you will help foster a deeper understanding of Alzheimer's and its effects, and offer much-needed support to those affected by this condition.
Please help us spread the word and ask other colleagues to help on this panel for discussion. We are working with the Town Hall and volunteers for refreshments and networking after the film as well. Please contact the Lena Public Library if you are able to assist or volunteer in any way.
