Mayo Clinic Critical Care Review for the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Associate 2026

Mayo Clinic's Critical Care Review for the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Associate is an interactive course designed for advanced practice providers working with critically ill adult patients. The course is comprised of lecture-based sessions covering essential acute care topics such as vasoactive support, ECMO, secondary trauma assessment, intracranial pressure, anticoagulant reversal, acute liver failure, toxicology, and more.

Target Audience:
This course is designed for nurse practitioners, physician associates, registered nurses, allied health professionals, respiratory therapists, and NP/PA students in acute care.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
-Develop differential diagnoses for common presenting symptoms in the critically ill patient.
-Interpret diagnostic testing based on differentials of presenting symptoms in the critically ill patient.
-Develop ultrasonographic image acquisition skills for bedside assessment of the critically ill patient.
-Recognize the need to tailor pharmacologic and procedural interventions to the unique characteristics of the critically ill patient.
-Demonstrate the ability to perform the following procedures: central vascular access, endotracheal intubation, bronchoscopy, cricothyrotomy, and percutaneous tracheotomy.
-Develop strategies for implementation of oxygenation and ventilatory support with invasive and non-invasive techniques.
