Saturday, November 11, 2023, 1400 - 1530
SAN FRANCISCO, CA-Oceanica Ballet presents Sleepy Hollow and Lupita, an autumn-themed double bill featuring the tale of the Headless Horseman and a ballet celebration of life inspired by Dia de Los Muertos. Artistic Co-Director Robert Burns Lowman adapts Sleepy Hollow from Washington Irving's classic 1819 short story, embodying the tale of Ichabod's encounter with the Headless Horseman through ballet, puppetry, and creative stage settings. Artistic Co-Director Edgar Lepe's Lupita combines elements of classical ballet and folklorico ballet set to Mexican folk music. Lupita centers around one woman whose transition to the afterlife leads her through a celebration of the joyous moments in life.
Sleepy Hollow and Lupita will be performed in-person at ODC Theater at 7pm on Friday November 10th; 2pm and 7pm on Saturday November 11th; and 2pm on Sunday November 12th.
