Open Auditions: WHITE CHRISTMAS musical
Monday, September 15, 2025 -- Tuesday, September 16, 2025, 1900 - 2200
Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including "Blue Skies," "I Love A Piano," "How Deep Is the Ocean" and the perennial title song, White Christmas is an uplifting, wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages.
DIRECTOR - George H. Croom
MUSIC DIRECTOR - Clay Zambo
CHOREOGRAPHER - Jennifer Jonas Cahill
Rehearsals begin September 29, Generally Monday thru Thursday, 7pm to 10.
(Some Sundays for dance rehearsals.)
Performances November 21 thru December 13.
AUDITIONS:
Please prepare 16-32 bars (up to 1 minute) from the American Theater Songbook (no rock, gospel or recent pop). Please be prepared to dance at auditions.
Except where indicated, most roles require tap. Tap experience is very helpful, but we will teach you if you are willing to learn. Non-tap roles are indicated in the breakdown.
ROLES: (All roles tap except where noted)
BOB WALLACE (30 - 40s) Former army captain and half of the song-and-dance duo Wallace and Davis. Cynical, charming with a strong sense of loyalty and duty. Strong Baritone, A3 - G4
PHIL DAVIS (30-40s) Former army captain and the other half of the song-and-dance duo Wallace and Davis. Fun loving, adventurous, and mischievous, always looking for a good time and romance. Baritone A3 - G4
BETTY HAYNES (30 - 40s) Older sister of the Haynes Sisters. Independent, pragmatic and protective of her younger sister. Huge skeptic. Note - this role does not tap, but does move well. Alto G3 - D5.
JUDY HAYNES (25-35) Younger sister of the Haynes Sisters. Adventurous, vivacious; a romantic at heart and somewhat impulsive. Alto G3 - D5
MARTHA WATSON (40s - 60s) Housekeeper at the Columbia Inn. A Broadway performer in retirement (known as the clarion of Broadway), with a flair for the dramatic and impeccable comic timing. Note - this role does not tap, but does move well. Strong alto belt F3 - C5.
GENERAL HENRY WAVERLY (60s) Owner of the Columbia Inn, and Bob and Phil's former commanding officer. Gruff, stern - still runs things like he was in charge of a military unit, but soft, genuine and caring underneath. Note - this character does not dance, and has little singing. Baritone, any range.
SUSAN WAVERLY (9 - 12). Henry's granddaughter. Curious, intelligent, and too old for her age. Dreams of becoming a performer. Note, this role does not tap, but does move well. Strong Alto G3 - C5.
RALPH SHELDRAKE (30s - 40s) Army buddy of Bob and Phil, now a major executive for the Ed Sullivan Show. Also fun and freewheeling, a flair for drama. Baritone C4 - E4.
UTILITY MALE (40 - 60s) Plays various parts including Jimmy, (owner of club Jimmy's), Snoring Man on the train, Ezekiel (the custodian of the barn), and various announcers during the show. Note, this role does not require tap (would be great if he did), but does move well. Baritone A3 - G4
UTILITY FEMALE (30 - 50s) Plays various parts including Mrs. Snoring Man, Tessie, Sheldrakes's Secretary and the Seamstress. Note, this role does not require tap but does move well.
ENSEMBLE (20 - 40s)
The ensemble plays a multitude of recurring roles in the show; all must sing well and dance. Again, tap experience is helpful, or willingness to learn. It is a heavy dance show. Roles to be covered include:
- Rita, a showgirl
- Rhonda, a showgirl
- Quintet (Best Things That Happen While You Dance)
- Train Conductor
- Mike Nulty, the director/choreographer
