Putting An End to Human Trafficking in Iowa | Oct. 15, 2025 | Presented by CIVITAS

Presented by the Greater Des Moines Rotary Multi-Club Committee, the 9th Annual CIVITAS event is October 15th. This event brings together Rotarians, their guests, and interested citizens for education and networking.

Our program this year is Putting an End to Human Trafficking, focusing throughout the greater Des Moines area and building momentum for community service.

October 15, 2025 will be our third year providing education and greater awareness on this important issue. Dan Nash, Founder of the Human Trafficking Training Center will be the Keynote Speaker, leading a two-hour training session designed specifically for community citizens who want to better understand what we can do to fight human trafficking in central Iowa. Some of the topics Dan will cover include:
- Myths about human trafficking and how it can endanger our children.
- Where do victims come from and what vulnerabilities do we watch for?
- What are the indicators of trafficking and how do we really protect children?
Followed by a Q and A session.

The event is Open to the Public.

Program Details:

4:39 p.m. - Registration with booths of nonprofits that provide services to help fight human trafficking. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served throughout the evening.

5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - Speakers Begin

7:30 p.m. - Network with fellow Rotarians and guests
During networking, local non-profit agencies will be available to share how Rotarians and citizens can get involved with this important issue.

This year, net proceeds will go to fund training for Iowa law enforcement officers and their partners in the prevention of human trafficking in Iowa. To date, CIVITAS has donated more than $115,000 to various nonprofits related to each year's topic.
