. . . who have journeyed far from their homelands in search of safety, dignity and belonging. Full of courage and hope, their stories, told through song and accompanied by a band, come to life in this celebration of faith, resilience and community. The event is available in person and via live stream.
Following the service, all are invited to a free reception, Noshes in the Narthex, celebrating Church World Service's refugee support work. Offerings collected throughout the evening will go to help support their efforts in our community.
The Rev. Yuriria (Yuri) RodrÃguez, originally from Costa Rica, is a singer, artist and educator who specializes in Latin American music and culture. She has performed in and conducted choirs of sacred and Latin American music in the United States. Through music, she has developed programs and curricula to accompany diverse communities in their journeys of faith, affirm their sense of identity, and celebrate God incarnate with the immigrant communities in the US. Yuri describes herself as a priest passionate about learning to be in liminal spaces between English and Spanish, Latino and US cultures, and tacos and BBQ.
From the heart of the city, Saint James has been serving Lancaster for over 275 years. The Episcopal Church has been a founding partner of Church World Service since 1946, and Saint James is pleased to use all funds from this service to support the work of CWS in Lancaster. Saint James and its Urban Well are innovative and contemplative, online and inter-generational. Our worship inspires us to reach out to our neighbors and to look within as we grow in faith and new friendships.
