Scottsdale Fashion Square Partners with American Red Cross to Host Community Blood Drive June 9

Summer traditionally results in a lower supply for area blood banks, both because of increased demand from injuries and accidents and because donations tend to be slower during these months. Volunteer donors play an essential role in meeting critical summer needs for blood transfusions to treat patients due to accidents, surgery, illness and disease. To help ensure an adequate blood supply for these moments, Scottsdale Fashion Square is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a Community Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 9. A Bloodmobile will be located in the shopping center’s south parking lot, across from Capital One Café.

Appointments are strongly encouraged, but walk-in appointments may also be available. Donors with all blood types are welcome, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative who can give a Power Red donation, which collects a concentrated dose of red blood cells. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements. The drive will also accept regular blood donations, during which approximately a pint of whole blood is given; these appointments usually take about an hour.

After donating, participants can relax in the recovery area. Each donor will receive a gift card for a complimentary coffee or drink from Capitol One Café, and after enjoying a treat they can reward their good deed with a visit to a favorite retailer or restaurant (or both).
