Spooky Folsom Returns to Exeter’s Folsom Tavern;
Fundraiser for Exeter Literary Festival Set for October 3

EXETER, NH - Halloween gets its groove on at Spooky Folsom, a haunted happening and beer garden on Friday, October 3 at Exeter’s historic Folsom Tavern, 164 Water Street. The popular event is a fundraiser for the Exeter Literary Festival, held annually the first weekend in April. Ghosts, goblins, and human guests are encouraged to wear costumes. Spooky Folsom runs 7-9:30 p.m.; tickets are $35 each and are available at www.exeterlitfest.com. The event is for ages 21+ (IDs will be checked).

Guests are encouraged to don costumes for this 21+ event, which includes a beer garden, raffles, and spine-tingling surprises throughout the tavern. Explore eerie rooms filled with strange experiments, haunted histories, and new chilling encounters.
This year, organizers are especially excited to unveil a brand-new immersive exhibit: the Fairy Collector’s Chamber. But don’t expect glittery garden sprites-these are the old ones… forgotten ones… tricksters, tempters, and terrible little beasts eager to step out of the shadows. Enter if you dare.

While exploring the 18th-century tavern, guests can take a seat with Madame Nightshade, who claims she can commune with the dead, capture a keepsake in the Zelda Tarot photo booth, dance to favorite Halloween tunes, and savor a cold brew in the backyard beer garden beneath the darkness of a new moon. Local beer from Czar’s Brewery will be available for purchase, along with wine and sodas.

“In years past, we’ve had immersive and themed rooms in the Tavern including tarot card readings, electric shock machines, weird science, and more,” says Renay Allen, Exeter Literary Festival board member and a “haunted host” of this year’s Spooky Folsom. “Our imagination has really gone wild this year. Wait until you see what’s new.”
About the Exeter Literary Festival
Since 2019, the Exeter Literary Festival has highlighted the depth and breadth of literary talent in the Exeter area and hosted authors and poets from around northern New England. Events are held the first weekend of April in Exeter’s historic Town Hall and are always free and open to all. The Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
