StoryStudio Chicago's StoryBoard Festival
Saturday, August 16, 2025 -- Sunday, August 17, 2025, 0900 - 1300
Presented by StoryStudio Chicago and curated by Artistic Director Rebecca Makkai and Program Curator Ananda Lima, our 8th annual Festival will take place August 16 and 17 at the Newberry Library. The two day Festival will offer classes, panels, and social events to help writers develop their craft, learn about publishing, and build a supportive writing community.
Saturday will be all about the craft of writing, featuring more than 15 craft talks and lectures from StoryStudio instructors and our 2025 StoryBoard Conference faculty, including Rufi Thorpe, Maggie Smith, Deesha Philyaw, Garrard Conley, and Sheree L. Greer. The day concludes with a book signing and cocktail party.
Sunday will feature panels and classes on the publishing industry, including a publishing prep breakfast with Rebecca Makkai.
In total, the weekend includes more than 20 classes, panels, and social events.
You can register for the full weekend (which includes a Friday night welcome party at the American Writers Museum), just Saturday, or just Sunday.
All the information you need, including the full festival program is available at the Festival's website.
We can't wait to see you for a weekend of writerly fun! Get your ticket now!
