Summer Horsemanship Youth Day Camp
Monday, June 16, 2025 -- Friday, August 22, 2025, 0800 - 1700
Elysian Fields Equestrian Center offers an unforgettable summer experience for children through our weekly Summer Day Camp program. Designed for horse-loving kids ages 5 and up, EFEC’s day camps combine riding lessons, hands-on barn activities, outdoor games, and unforgettable memories in a safe, supportive, and family-oriented environment.
Each camp runs Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is led by experienced horse professionals who are passionate about teaching horsemanship, safety, responsibility, and confidence through structured, engaging activities.
No prior experience is necessary—campers of all levels are welcome, and everything is provided, including lunches, snacks, helmets, and all riding gear. Kids just need to show up ready to learn, get a little dirty, and have fun.
Our camp is not just about riding—it’s about learning the full scope of what it means to care for a horse and be part of a barn community. Campers get involved with feeding, grooming, tack care, and even basic health checks under direct supervision. Our goal is to build not only riders, but responsible young equestrians.
What Campers Will Experience:
Daily Riding Lessons: Taught in small groups based on experience level. Beginner riders are welcome, and no prior experience is required.
Horsemanship Lessons: Learn how to groom, tack, feed, and safely handle horses.
Interactive Barn Chores: Campers will participate in age-appropriate barn tasks to understand the full responsibility of horse care.
Outdoor Games and Crafts: Fun, structured playtime and equine-themed arts and crafts keep kids moving and creative throughout the day.
Fridays Are Fun Days!
Every Friday is a special celebration of everything campers have learned throughout the week. We host a graduation show, where campers get to demonstrate their new riding skills to family and friends. The week wraps up with a camp-wide pizza party, giving the kids time to relax, laugh, and enjoy their accomplishments together.
Camp Schedule:
EFEC hosts week-long camps nearly every week all summer long, giving families the flexibility to choose one or more weeks that best fit their schedule. Each camp session has a slightly different mix of activities, so campers can return for multiple weeks without repeating the same experience.
Full-Day Camp: Ages 7+ (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – $400/week
Half-Day Mini Camp: Ages 5–7 (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM) – $200/week
Camp Weeks: Typically begin in early June and continue through late August. Space is limited and sessions often fill quickly.
Safety First:
Safety is a top priority at EFEC. All campers are supervised by knowledgeable staff, and all riding is conducted using appropriate safety gear (including ASTM/SEI-approved riding helmets, which are provided if needed). Campers are matched with horses suitable for their size and skill level, and activities are tailored to their capabilities.
What Parents Say:
"EFEC’s summer camp gave my son confidence I hadn’t seen in years. The staff was patient, the horses were amazing, and the environment was exactly what we needed—safe, structured, and fun."
— James R., Parent
"My daughter came home every day from EFEC camp with the biggest smile on her face. She learned to ride, take care of horses, and made real friends. It was the first camp where she actually begged to go back every morning."
— Amanda L., Parent
Location:
EFEC is located in Montoursville, PA, and operates as both a riding center and the home base for our nonprofit initiative Heroes Helping Horses | Horses Healing Heroes (6H). While the nonprofit and camp programs are separate, all campers benefit from being around calm, well-cared-for horses and a professionally run facility.
How to Register:
Registration is available online at www.elysianfieldsEC.com, or by emailing us at ElysianFieldsPA@gmail.com. Space is limited and sessions often sell out, so early registration is encouraged.
