The Michaelmas Fair

Join us in the magnificent grounds and buildings of The Hospital of St Cross for our Michaelmas Fair 2026 ! Fun for all the family, individuals, and groups. This year's special line up showcases historic re-enactment camp and shows provided by the living history group 'The Hounds of Morrigan'. The 'Hounds' will set up camp in our grounds and show a range of domestic displays and battle shows. including tournaments, melees and skirmishes, all with a good range of interactive elements for all ages. These will span from 'The Battle of Hastings' through to the 'War of the Roses'. Alongside this will be our richly varied local craft and artisan stalls, performances from the Rock Choir and a Medieval string quartet, delicious hot food vendors, and a beer tent and a medieval cocktail bar. For more fun, come and play our large outdoor French influenced traditional games, have your face painted, and enjoy the magic focus of Calligraphy and illustration workshops in the North Transept and Master's Garden. Last but not least, for the textile lovers we are delighted to host a beautiful display of quilts in our Chapel...This day promises to be a wonderful celebration of the end of summer and drawing in towards autumnal season. Parking is free in the Parklands next to the site. Sign posted on the day. Entrance fee is £4.00. Under 16 free. The Michaelmas Fair is one of our biggest fund raising events of the year which supports our charitable foundation.
