The Sounds of Purple: ARIRANG in Chicago
Thursday, August 27, 2026, 1200 - 1600
Inspired by BTS's messages of hope, resilience, self-love, and community, The Sounds of Purple: ARIRANG in Chicago is a free, fan-organized charity event that brings people together through music, dance, and giving back.
Join us on August 27 from 12:00 PM–4:00 PM at Ping Tom Memorial Park for an afternoon celebrating BTS, K-pop, and the incredible community we've built together while raising funds for the Chicago Center for Music Education (ChiME)'s Music Therapy Program.
Whether you're a longtime ARMY, a casual K-pop fan, or simply looking for a fun community event, everyone is welcome-no dance experience required!
Event Highlights
Open BTS and K-pop Random Dance Play
Debut Passion Challenge (soloists and teams welcome; winner chosen by audience applause!)
Local artists, small businesses, and community vendors
BTS Jukebox song requests
BTS Trivia Challenge
"Future's Gonna Be Okay" Message Board
Purple Ribbon Wall
Love Yourself Photo Spot
Vendor giveaways and prizes
Throughout the event, attendees will have opportunities to support ChiME through donations, fundraising activities, and purchases from participating vendors and community partners.
Our Mission
This event is about more than dancing-it's about using our shared love of music to create meaningful community impact. Every donation, purchase, and song request helps expand access to music therapy and music education for children and youth throughout Chicago through ChiME.
