Tomaquag Museum's 22nd Annual Honoring and Cultural Celebration

Tomaquag is Rhode Island's only Indigenous-led Museum serving Southern New England. We have been around for 67 years and have held an annual Honoring and Cultural Celebration for 22years! This event will be held for the second year at the Crowne Plaza and we will honor and give awards to 7 individuals or organizations who have achieved excellence as Artists, Culture Bearers, Scholars, Champions, Philanthropists, Entrepreneurs, Volunteers, or Lifetime Leaders in and for the Indigenous Community.
Our 2025 Awards and Honorees are:
Princess Red Wing Arts and Culture Award: Thawn Sherente Harris (Narragansett - Niantic)
Eva Butler Scholar Award: Linford D. Fisher, Professor Dept. History, Brown University
Ellison "Tarzan" Brown Champion Award: U.S. Senator Jack Reed
Kaukont Philanthropic Award: Duffy and Sweeney, LTD
Eleanor Dove Entrepreneur Award: Smoke Sygnals (Mashpee Wampanoag)
Volunteer of the Year Award: Evan McManamy
Lifetime Achievement Award: Rodney Butler (Mashantucket Pequot) Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation
**This signature event is an experience that can transform people's lives by broadening perspectives, influencing attitudes, and fostering appreciation and an understanding of the culture and important contributions of local Indigenous people.
