Walk4Unity: UN Human Rights Day

The event celebrates human rights in the Phoenix area. The event will begin with a walk of less than one mile in the downtown Chandler area. The program following the walk will include speakers and multicultural performances and short facilitated small group discussions to allow people to hear each other. This year introduces a Community Exchange where attendees can donate clothing, personal hygiene products, and nonperishable food item or pick up items free of charge-a tangible testament to community solidarity and shared responsibility. We also offer information booths from a variety of organizations that support the goals of human rights. The event will include refreshments, creative activities, and T-shirts as supplies allow.
Walk4Unity is an annual event organized collaboratively by local non-profits to promote unity, celebrate people of all backgrounds, recognize that we are one human family, and highlight human rights for all. Sponsors include Chandler4Change, a non-partisan, non-political group, striving to unite our community while allowing people to learn, engage, share and facilitate positive change in Chandler; the United Nations Association USA-Phoenix Chapter, a movement of Americans who believe that our interests and values can best be advanced by standing with the planet’s only truly universal institution; the Baha’is of Chandler, members of the Baha'i Faith, believe in the Oneness of Humanity and the elimination of all forms of prejudice.
