Who Controls Our Future? A Conversation with Dr. Ibram Kendi

Philanthropy is not neutral. Its investments shape what becomes possible and what remains invisible. When communities, institutions, and values are under attack, philanthropy holds the privilege and responsibility to organize with quick action and invest in transforming systems for the long-term. Join Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, Jamie Allison, and Glen Galaich for a candid conversation about power, democracy, and philanthropy.

In his bestselling new book, Chain of Ideas: The Origins of Our Authoritarian Age, Dr. Kendi traces how the great replacement theory fueled the rise of authoritarianism and eroded democratic norms worldwide. In CONTROL: Why Big Giving Falls Short, Galaich exposes how concentrated donor power undermines the communities philanthropy claims to serve, and how shifting and sharing control leads to greater impact. In conversation with Allison, they'll discuss the racist and classist narratives that have long been used to control resources and manipulate society - and what it will take to free ourselves from the forces that divide us.

Be part of the conversation about power and control - who holds it and how we share it in service of a more just and equitable society.
