Tuesday, June 10, 2025, 1900 - 2030
A free event, open to the public, to explain the research on Transcendental Meditation as well as other meditation practices.
Topics of interest include: the physiological correlates of enlightenment and higher states of consciousness; brain wave studies; the hope for creating lasting world peace. Dr Orme-Johnson has been studying meditation for decades and has published more than 100 studies in scientific journals, including American Psychologist, American Journal of Health Promotion, International Journal of Neuroscience, and Journal of Adult Development.
Dr. Orme-Johnson was one of the early pioneers in demonstrating the effectiveness of the TM technique in eliminating stress. His groundbreaking study on the TM technique and brain functioning showed that the unique, coherent electrical activity in the brain during TM practice was correlated with states of increased creativity and intelligence, enhanced moral reasoning, and decreased neuroticism. He has used his expertise to review and compile data from more than 800 published papers on meditation and the effects that meditation has on the health and well-being of the individual and society.
After the presentation there will be time for Q and A. Please come and join the discussion; learn about how science is measuring the immeasurable, the fascinating expanse of human awareness.
